Going inland from Road 1 at Selfoss onto Road 35 towards Geysir, through the farmland valleys, there are a number of little villages that have sprung up around geothermal areas, each with its own character. A wide selection of restaurants, accommodation and activities are on offer in this area. Road 35 leads to Sólheimar, an ecovillage and organic farm. Visitors are welcome.
